Congratulations! Seeing your premiere entry made me remember the first bread starter I ever made... it was in the dead of winter and I was convinced I had to use grapes. So I used the best grapes I could find in January (but not organic!). Of course, it didn't work and I ended up throwing out 4 pounds of starter. After that, I made starters from just organic wholewheat and water and it worked just fine! We all have to start somewhere! Happy first birthday!
